"THE
SOUND"
Words & Music by Robby Romero
Spoken Word Dune Lankard
ever since the nations worst oil spill
the people believe that the oil is gone
they look at the pristine prince william sound
and they think that the place is cleaned up
and there’s no more oil
here we are and crude oil still remains
in the sub-service of the oil spill zone
they tested over 1500 sites along the 1600 miles of cost line
and found that over 50 percent of the beaches
were still contaminated with crude oil
and that’s not going to change anytime soon
so out the twenty eight spices
that were the most heavily impacted
from the exxon valdez oil spill
only two are on the recovered list
and that’s the bald eagles and the river otters
it’s my fear that the gwich’in nation
will lose what they have right now
and that’s an intact subsistence life style
that’s how I felt about prince william sound
and now we’re living proof of what can go wrong
so if there is any oil spills on the tundra up in the arctic refuge
there is absolutely no way the oil industry can clean it up
not now not ever
