Energy Meetings Papers Ordered Released
Washington - A U.S. District Court judge ordered the Energy Department to release the "vast majority" of documents relating to secret meetings held last year by Vice President Dick Cheney's energy task force.
The Bush administration has argued that releasing the documents would interfere with its right to conduct a deliberative process over sensitive issues. The Natural resources Defense Council had sued the department last year under the Freedom of Information Act. Sharon Buccion, who represented the council, said "the court's order enforces the public's fundamental right to know what the government is doing."
